Mothspeaker calls themselves Moth Priests, Greer-raised, and that tells you most of what you need. Post-rock built slow, slowcore stretched thinner, electronic textures bleeding through the cracks. One single so far, PCP, plus a Chrysalis Mix.

Pterry

Pterry doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's kind of the whole appeal. Four singles out since 2025, Best Day Ever, Do u Believe?, Straight Face, and the newest, Mind's Numb, dropped this year. Small crowd so far, lets get it growing.

Middlehaze

Middlehaze started in someone's practice space back in 2015, four Greenville kids who all write and all sing. Latest EP "Down Low" got tracked right here in town with Will Wong and Britt Barker, though "High Five" before it got cut up in Asheville with a kid named Lawson Alderson. Indie rock built by committee, in the good way.

YardSale

Formed in the summer of 2022, in drummer Abraham Hines's driveway of all places, YardSale's grown into the Upstate's own strain of prog psych, four pieces pulling from rock, jazz, funk, blues, whatever's lying around, then bending it toward something stranger. Songs like "Overture 751" and "Carolina Rain" don't sit still, they wander, shift time, come back different than they left. Latest release "I've Been Down So Long" keeps that ambition running. Not a band chasing a sound. A band building one.

The Schwa

Formed in 2018, The Schwa write guitar-driven, hook-heavy alt-pop that pulls from garage rock, blues, britpop, funk, and a little modern psychedelia without settling into any one of them. A steady name in the Greenville scene for years now, not a band still finding its footing.

Sidestep Dog

Sidestep Dog play emo and pop-punk with teeth — think Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday, but with horns and indie-leaning composition woven in rather than a straight throwback. A Radio Room regular with a steady release history, most recently 2025's "Best Behavior."

Sawyer Norman

Quiet As A Cathedral

Quiet as a Cathedral is a solo project, not a band, built around slow, deliberate songwriting. The latest release, "Via Negativa," is a concept album in the truest sense, nine tracks that build on each other as a spiritual "way," tracing a path from immaturity toward something closer to grace.

Plunge Diver

Plunge Diver doesn't have much of a public footprint yet, just a couple tracks on Bandcamp worth a listen. Full profile coming as we learn more.

Lost Foxes

Lost Foxes started as a group of Greenville friends making songs for fun in 2020, then became a real band. These days it's the solo project of Duncan Therrell, who's kept the name and pushed the sound forward on his own. The latest record, "To Get Used To You Gone," traces heartbreak through to something closer to peace, ten tracks, one clear arc.

Griffin Duffey

Griffin Duffey is a working musician first, playing guitar, keys, and music direction across weddings, churches, and venues around Greenville. He also engineers, produces, and mixes for other local artists, so there's a good chance you've heard his work even when his own name isn't on it.

A Colossal Hand

A Colossal Hand is the solo project of John Woodruff, self-described as "suburban dad metal," which tells you most of what you need to know before you even hit play. The newest release, "Memory, The Mind's Basilisk," leans into themes of nostalgia and breaking yourself open to find peace, a heavier turn than the sparse, introspective "The Last Good Days" that came before it. A track also turned up on a benefit compilation for World Central Kitchen, so there's more range here than the goofy genre tag lets on.

Splitwave

Splitwave crashed into the Greenville scene in the fall of 2023. The four-piece indie alt-rock band built their first year entirely in-house: shows, music videos, artwork, all of it independent. They debuted their single "Silver Lines" in March 2024, "Waterfall" came in the new year after that. In November 2024, they won the Crowd Favorite vote at WSBF's Battle of the Bands in Clemson without a major release to their name. Frontman and visual artist Stephen Sholty describes the whole enterprise as a reckoning with existential dread that somehow also finds room for wonder. That's a hard thing to pull off. They're pulling it off.

Sunhouse

Sunhouse started in the summer of 2022 in Greenville with six songs and a sound that arrived, in the words of Vincent Harris of the Greenville Journal's Upstate Beat, "fully formed." Four people pulling from indie rock, '80s pop, folk, and grunge and somehow landing somewhere that sounds like none of those things exactly and all of them at once. Their debut album, No One's Home, took more than a year to create, a labor of love that Rice called an achievement just to finish. And when they finally played the release show at the Radio Room in November 2024, it felt less like a local band milestone and more like a quiet arrival. Swanson's Warehouse. The Radio Room. Athens. Charleston. The rooms keep getting a little bigger, and the songs keep holding up.

Slow Funeral

Slow Funeral is what happens when a woman from the South Carolina Piedmont decides, against the advice of everyone sensible, to make the album she's been carrying around in her chest since she was sixteen.
