The Mockingbird

The Mockingbird opened in January 2026 as the Peace Center's answer to Nashville's Bluebird Cafe, a 180-seat listening room built inside the historic Gullick and Markley buildings, cabaret tables wrapped around a semicircular stage with a glass wall behind it looking straight out at the Reedy River. This is the room built for when the song matters more than the spectacle, curated in part by Nashville songwriter Maia Sharp's monthly Song Sessions series, which has already pulled in writers behind hits for Bonnie Raitt, Garth Brooks, and Greenville's own Edwin McCain. New enough that Greenville's still figuring out what it is, but the bones, the sound, the sightlines, are built for people who actually came to listen
