THIS WEEK IN GREENVILLE: A FULL SEVEN DAYS OF NOISE
Monday belongs to Poe Mill Music. The Up Next! Open Mic turns one year old at 7pm, and a year of an open mic surviving in this town is worth showing up for. On The Roxx eases into the week too: Doug Jones on guitar, an open mic, then an open jam carrying things into the small hours.
Tuesday keeps its head down. Fireforge runs its bluegrass jam, Jamie Wright & Vince Crow bring blues and Americana to On The Roxx, and Radio Room hands off the mic for karaoke.
Wednesday stays quiet on purpose. Radio & Chill keeps it free and easy, and Tribble's Creative Meet Up mixes open jam with low-stakes showcase.
Thursday starts flexing. Randomonium hits NOMA Square for Downtown Alive, Darby Wilcox plays Wild Yarrow with Banh GVL out front, and George Porter Jr., architect of about half of everything funk has ever borrowed from, brings serious low-end business to the Mockingbird. On The Roxx runs its own three-act night: Justin Payne, then Chris Hunt's outlaw country and rock 'n' roll, then Away Team closing things out loud.
Friday's the center of gravity. Parker McCollum headlines CCNB Amphitheatre with Max McNown and Annie Bosko. The Carson Moore Quartet, featuring Jeff Sipe, plays Fireforge. Maia Sharp's Song Sessions open a two-night run at the Mockingbird. Frankly Scarlet plays Radio Room, Vilai Harrington brings folk and bluegrass to Wild Yarrow, and Tribble's kicks off Jimmy Craine's karaoke send-off. On The Roxx runs JL Fulks, the Marvin King Revue (Marvin King, whose son happens to be Marcus King), and the Sound Committee.
Saturday doesn't let up. Maia Sharp closes out her second Mockingbird night, The Reflex brings a Duran Duran tribute to Radio Room, and Tribble's wraps its karaoke era for good. Wild Yarrow's got Second Hand News, and On The Roxx runs four full sets: Drew Horton, Chuck Falls, ECHO, and FlashPoint closing with the Upstate's best 80s and 90s party rock.
Sunday lets the week exhale. Greenville Jazz Collective settles into Fireforge, Swamp Rabbit Duo eases into Wild Yarrow, and Haus of Glitter's drag brunch sends Radio Room off glittered and fed. On The Roxx closes with Elliott Morgan, BUCKLAND, and Broken Rekordd.
